Pastor Glem @ Trinity

By Pastor Glem Melo

38783107_10217780133120135_896594931508838400_nThis week, as a new Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) student (teaching and preaching concentration), I went to the New Students Orientation (2 days for international students) and started attending classes at Trinity International University / Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

As I was listening to Dr. Wayne Johnson, Associate Dean of TEDS and my professor for Biblical Theology and Interpretation, during the orientation, I was thinking, “How did I get here?”  Because I am just a poor probinsyano and former drug addict from a poor province of the Philippines.

39580667_10217873665458385_2917669647513812992_nThen I thought, “What am I doing?”  Because I do not have the funds to pay for my tuition.  And I also feared that I may not be able to make it academically in this world-renowned and greatly esteemed (and rightly so) institution.

But, as I always do…  I just keep on keeping on.  The goal: for me to study and get equipped to train and mentor pastors and church planters for unreached people groups worldwide.

Please pray for me.  More than ever, I need prayer.

Yanan @ Moody

By Pastor Glem Melo

Today, we moved Yanan to Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois. He will take up the 5-year BA/MA Pastoral Studies program.  His Practical Christian Ministry will be with our church planting team in Devon/Little India (West Ridge/West Rogers Park). Please include him in your prayers.

“Moody is driven by the belief that people committed to living and declaring the Word of God can actually change the world. Since our founding by D.L. Moody in 1886, Moody Bible Institute has been committed to equipping people across the globe, cultures and generations to take the next step toward spiritual maturity.”

Soccer Camp 2018

By Pastor Glem Melo

From July 18 to August 8, our local church family, Park Community Church (South Rogers Park location, Chicago, IL, U.S.A.), held a free Soccer Camp for the kids in our neighborhood.  All the kids, parents, and other loved-ones had great fun.  We met many individuals and families of various races and ethnicities, and made significant friendship connections with them.  Most importantly, the Gospel was shared and Bibles were given to the children.  Praise the Lord!

Please pray that the Lord will continue to sustain and bless our friendship building, prayer, evangelism, disciple-making, and church planting mission to the nations in the Northside of Chicago.

when the people willingly offer themselves—
praise the Lord!” (5:2)

“The people of Zebulun risked their very lives;
so did Naphtali on the terraced fields.” (5:18)

By Pastor Glem Melo

36704642_10156258098051211_9021588846881538048_nThe Lord blessed the humble launching of the youth ministry of Park Community Church at North Rogers Park.  Just a handful came, but it we all had fun, shared God’s word, and prayed together.

Please pray:

  1. For more youth to attend and be discipled through the new ministry
  2. For Bible studies to be established in key high schools in Rogers Park

Assyrian Neighbors

IMG_0012By Pastor Glem Melo

I saw our Assyrian neighbor Edi Toma walking and went out to join him. He is from Iraq and speaks very little English. He is 90+ years old and a retired priest of the Assyrian Church. I prayed for him at the end of our walk. Now, I am praying for our next walk and how I can minister to him. I also want to know more about his family.

Please help me pray for Edi and his loved ones.

May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples with equity
and guide the nations of the earth.
May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
Psalm 67:3-5
