A Catholic priest and more than a dozen have been abducted by ISIS-linked terrorists in Marawi, southern Philippines.

“Father Chito Suganob and others were in the Cathedral of Our Lady Help of Christians when members of the Maute fighting group forced their way into the Cathedral, taking with them Fr. Chito and others as hostages. They have threatened to kill the hostages if the government forces unleashed against them are not recalled.” – Archbishop Socrates Villegas, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)

Marawi Bishop Edwin dela Peña identified some of the other hostages as Wendelyn Mayormita, the parish secretary, and professor Maria Luisa “Nicnic” Colina, the parish council president. With them, he said, are two working students and at least 10 other parishioners.

There are reports that some people have already been decapitated, but those still need to be verified.

About Glem Melo

I am a believer and follower of Christ, happily married, and have 3 wonderful kids. I am the founder and CEO of Open Eyes Mission, under the care of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Chicago Metro Presbytery, pastoral intern at Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana, and studying Master of Divinity at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. The Bible teaches that God is real, man is sinful, hell is real, and Jesus is our only hope of salvation. I believe these truths with all of my heart, and I hope to help others learn of them as well. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) May God give you grace and peace.
