Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Psalm 106:1).

2016-01-26 17.56.04Last Tuesday, January26, 2016, I was officially examined and received under the care, mentoring and supervision of the pastors and elders of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) in the Washington DC area (Potomac Presbytery). Following is Pastor Stephen Fix’s endorsement letter:

To the Clerk of Potomac Presbytery,

On behalf of the Session of Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bowie (RPCB), I am writing to request our Presbytery to receive Glem Melo as a candidate under care as well as enroll him in the Presbytery internship program.

Glem has been a church planting pastor for a number of years in a Pentecostal church environment in the Philippines with the goal of reaching the predominantly Muslim areas of that country. Over the past seven years, however, God has brought him on a journey to a growing conviction that Reformed theology is a more faithful understanding of the Bible. In pursuit of his long term goal to plant Reformed Presbyterian churches in the Philippines, a number of officers mostly from our Presbytery, in consultation with MTW, have organized an oversight committee to work with him as he completes formal seminary training in the United States and then returns to the Philippines.

Although Glem has been ordained previously as a Pentecostal pastor, he desires to go through the ordinary process of church membership and ordination in a Reformed church, both for personal benefit and to learn the ordinary process for this in the hopes of implementing it in the Philippines in the future. Glem has taken the first step in this process and was welcomed into membership in our congregation here at RPCB on May 24, 2015.

2016-01-26 16.21.52Glem’s membership at RPCB formalizes a relationship with our congregation that goes back many years. It started when the late Rev. Ed Bradley (Potomac Presbytery) met Glem through his work with Oakseed Ministries. Dr. Bradley began mentoring Glem and introduced him to a number of pastors in our Presbytery, including me. Since then our congregation has had the privilege of coming alongside Glem, along with his wife Aymi and three children, to support their work and encourage his theological growth in his Reformed convictions.

Over the years as we have watched Glem work in ministry both from afar and up close during a number of his extended visits to the area over the last few years, we have been persuaded both of Glem’s deep faith and his gifts for ministry. So our Session would like to recommend him for enrollment in Potomac Presbytery as a candidate under care to the end of transferring his credentials and officially sending him for Gospel ministry in the Philippines and other countries.

Sincerely,

Rev. Stephen A. Fix

I rejoice in the Lord’s mercy, grace and hand upon me, my family and our vision for the Philippines and the 10/40 Window.  And I continue to rest in Christ’s Person, life, death, resurrection, kingdom rule and intercession for us.  By His Spirit’s grace and help alone, I press on.

Please continue to remember to pray for me, my family and the pastors and elders who are supervising, counseling and mentoring me.

About Glem Melo

I am a believer and follower of Christ, happily married, and have 3 wonderful kids. I am the founder and CEO of Open Eyes Mission, under the care of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Chicago Metro Presbytery, pastoral intern at Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana, and studying Master of Divinity at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. The Bible teaches that God is real, man is sinful, hell is real, and Jesus is our only hope of salvation. I believe these truths with all of my heart, and I hope to help others learn of them as well. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) May God give you grace and peace.
