By Pastor Glem Melo
Last Sunday, I was received as a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bowie (RPCBowie.org), and therefore of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCAnet.org), the denomination that RPCB is affiliated to. And with me, all our kids — Yanan, Giona and Rosh — but as non-communicant members, of course. And we all look forward to my dear wife Aymi’s interview with the local church session, public re-affirmation of faith and reception as full member, as soon as she is able to visit the U.S.
RPCB is committed to the “Bible, God’s word, [as] the foundational authority in the church,” to the gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, to Reformed theology as set forth in the Westminster Standards, and to elders-led church government.
The PCA is committed to being “faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith and obedient to the Great Commission.” It consists of over 1,500 congregations with more than 300,000 members.
When I preached during the evening service, I thanked the RPCB family for “having always been a source of great comfort, encouragement, guidance and edification to me, to my family and to our mission in the Philippines. My re-affirmation of faith and reception as a member of this church family marked another milestone in my journey in the Lord. It’s a new beginning!”
