God’s Word and Prayer for Haiyan/Yolanda Victims

???????????????????????????????

By Pastor Glem Melo

???????????????????????????????Since day 1 of the Haiyan/Yolanda devastation, our mission team and partners have visited, ministered to and provided much-needed relief and assistance to pastors and members of 5 churches in 5 severely affected towns in 3 provinces. We visit them regularly and listen to their struggles. We talk about their most pressing needs and the hindrances to their progress towards rehabilitation. In every visit, we minister to them and counsel them with God’s word, knowing that the crux of everything is our faith and walk with Christ. His word is clear:???????????????????????????????

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5)

???????????????????????????????Resting in Christ and His word, we then work together towards the development of a plan of action to address their situation and to overcome obstacles. We pray as brothers and sisters in Christ, and begin implementing our agreed plan as a team.

One of those churches is Christ Baptist Church in La Paz, Leyte.

Please pray that God’s word would continue to take root in the hearts of our brothers and sisters in La Paz. That they would cling to it as their food and life. That upon its solid foundation, they will find grounding and strength as they continue to suffer and struggle in the aftermath of the supertyphoon.

About Glem Melo

I am a believer and follower of Christ, happily married, and have 3 wonderful kids. I am the founder and CEO of Open Eyes Mission, under the care of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Chicago Metro Presbytery, pastoral intern at Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana, and studying Master of Divinity at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. The Bible teaches that God is real, man is sinful, hell is real, and Jesus is our only hope of salvation. I believe these truths with all of my heart, and I hope to help others learn of them as well. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) May God give you grace and peace.
