The Gospel Call and Unbelief

By Pastor Glem Melo

Tonight at our Canons of Dort class, we will continue our studies on the “Third and Fourth Heads of Doctrine: The Corruption of Man, his Conversion to God and the Manner in Which it Occurs.” We will focus on:

Article 8: The Ernest Call of the Gospel

Article 9: Why Some of the Called Do Not Come

Once more, we will examine and compare the views/positions of the Arminians, Hyper-Calvinists and Reformed-Calvinists. As always, by God’s grace alone, our goal is Biblical faithfulness which leads to fruitful ministry and mission.

“Scripture… clearly teaches that the call of the gospel is serious and that God seriously wants men to heed the call and repent. At the same time, Scripture teaches that God reprobates some people.” – Arthur van Delden

“The problem lies with man, with us. Our own-self-inflicted deadness-in-sin is the cause for some not responding to the gospel…” – Clarence Bouwman

About Glem Melo

I am a believer and follower of Christ, happily married, and have 3 wonderful kids. I am the founder and CEO of Open Eyes Mission, under the care of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Chicago Metro Presbytery, pastoral intern at Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana, and studying Master of Divinity at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. The Bible teaches that God is real, man is sinful, hell is real, and Jesus is our only hope of salvation. I believe these truths with all of my heart, and I hope to help others learn of them as well. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) May God give you grace and peace.
