“Play and Grow” Room for Children Flood Victims-Survivors

Last week, March 14, Wednesday, we opened our very first Children’s “Play and Grow” Room in an evacuation center. A short but deeply moving program was held with the camp manager and the evacuees. By God’s providence, Ben Hoogendoorn, Debbie Toribio and others from Food for the Hungry were present as guests. They gave away vitamins for the little children.

After that, we went to the children’s room to open a box of toys, books and other fun and educational stuff from Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. The children had a blast! They played with the toys and browsed the books with much joy and excitement. And thanks to our faithful workers and volunteers, the children’s room is open 4 hours a day for the rehabilitation and growth of children flood victims-survivors.

Lord willing, we will open a bigger Children’s “Play and Grow” Room in the Calaanan Tent City. And this as we continue to conduct and coordinate weekly fun and Bible learning activities for kids in 4 evacuation sites.

Please ask the Lord to bless our long-term “relief to rehabilitation to church planting” program for flood victims-survivors. Specifically, please pray as we now begin a more intensive phase of visitation, evangelism and Bible teaching for both children and adults in evacuation centers and tent cities. May the Holy Spirit work faith in the hearts of many. And may Christ build His church among them.

About Glem Melo

I am a believer and follower of Christ, happily married, and have 3 wonderful kids. I am the founder and CEO of Open Eyes Mission, under the care of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Chicago Metro Presbytery, pastoral intern at Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana, and studying Master of Divinity at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. The Bible teaches that God is real, man is sinful, hell is real, and Jesus is our only hope of salvation. I believe these truths with all of my heart, and I hope to help others learn of them as well. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) May God give you grace and peace.
